Oh No!

from Dots and Lines by Eric Elliott

/

about

I wrote this song years ago, but could never do it the way I wanted to. It was too much dulcimer, too electric, too jazzy. Well, I finally decided to make my very own dulcimer album, and I knew that I wanted this song front-and-center.
Oh No! sums up my idea for the album as a whole. I wanted to write songs where the dulcimer, either acoustic or electric, would take the lead. I wanted to make, first and foremost, a dulcimer album. And within that album, I was going to explore the variety of sounds and styles that make this instrument so much fun. This isn't your typical mountain dulcimer song, but it couldn't be done with any other instrument. It's jazzy and weird, and it's exactly the way I'd always imagined it.

lyrics

“Oh No!”

You were someone else today, the way you acted, yeah, you took my breath away
And now there’s nothing here that’s left for me to say, except oh no, no
Oh no, no

I guess it had to end, but what I still don’t know is why can’t we be friends
Cuz what you’re doing’s not what I would recommend, oh no, no
Oh no, no

Don’t hate me, I know I let you down, but lately you got me runnin’ around, all around
So, I guess it comes to this, a situation that I frankly wish I’d missed
But it’s all over, so I guess I’ll shut my lips, and think oh no, no
Oh no, no

You were someone else today, the way you acted, yeah, you took my breath away
And now there’s nothing here that’s left for me to say, except oh no, no
Oh no, no
