about

Prairie Mountain Brothers takes a new approach to an old genre.

Described as Folk-ternative, Eric Elliott and Scott Riggle draw on their 10+ years of musical collaboration to fuse narrative folk songwriting with catchy melodies and percussive acoustic bluegrass instrumentation. Their unique high-energy playing styles lend a larger-than-expected sound to the duo.

Track Name: The Rambler
Hey hello, how are you? The pleasure is all mine / My story starts in Texas where everything was fine
And even if I told you, you’d never know / The places that I’ve been to with my pride in tow
And now it’s showing / I was out ahead but now I’m slowing

I’ve been to Wichita, Orlando, and PA / From up in Portland I went down to LA
I’ll keep on runnin, I can’t slow down / The whole wide world is out there, just waiting to be found
I can see it glowing / If what you reap you sow, better get to sowing

So if you’ve got the time, head on down that road
Find a peace of mind you never thought you’d know
The future’s out ahead, the ending is unknown
So if you’ve got the time, head on down that road

Some men are gamblers, afraid of what they chose / Other men are ramblers, and I am one of those
I might have nothing, but I believe / There’s surely something out there for me
Oh, the wild wind is blowing / I can hear it now, the mountain streams are flowing

Well I must be getting on, I won’t be back / The truth is always out there, just remember that
Good luck to you stranger, I wish you well / Maybe I’ll be seeing you, but only time will tell
I gotta keep on going / Something’s out ahead, I see it showing

So if you’ve got the time, head on down that road
Find a peace of mind you never thought you’d know
The future’s out ahead, the ending is unknown
So if you’ve got the time, head on down that road
Track Name: The Sleeper
It was early on a Tuesday and I was feeling alright / I was heating up some cold grilled something from the previous night
I got a call from an unknown number, I thought I’d give it a try / Gave some money for a young politician, yeah I was feeling alright

And if someone asks me
What’s the meaning of life
I think I’d tell them
It’s a day at a time

I went walking to the freeway, hoping to see something good / Ended up in a roadside diner, just like I knew that I would
Now I can’t remember what I ever wanted, what did I do with the time? /
I got some mud on my brand-new sneakers, but I really don’t mind

And if someone asks me
What’s the meaning of life
I think I’d tell them
It’s a day at a time

This is all I ever needed, this is all that I am / All alone in an open-air ocean, a sucker-fish of a man
I bought a ticket to a distant destination, wanted to try something new / Missed my train so I stayed here sleeping, what was I s’posed to do

And if someone asks me
What’s the meaning of life
I think I’d tell them
It’s a day at a time
Track Name: Dirty Harry Syndrome
I’ve got a feeling and I like it a lot, I’m thinking maybe we should give it a shot / He’s standing there, talking to his chair, I’m thinking maybe we should give it all that we’ve got

‘Cause I’m falling apart, waiting on a breakthrough / Now I’m ready to start, working out on something new

I’ve got this feeling and it’s following me, it wants to show you everything that I see / A dirty cop tryin’a spin us around, but we can’t stop, no he won’t slow us down

‘Cause I’m falling in love, with this idea with you / Now I’m ready to start, working out on something new

I feel lucky, I feel lucky, I feel lucky, so so lucky when I’m with you

I feel lucky, I feel lucky, I feel lucky, so so lucky when I’m with you
I feel lucky, I feel lucky, I feel lucky, so so lucky when I’m with you
Track Name: The Stranger
Come on down to the center of town, we won’t get started till the sun goes down / We’ve got jugglers, lions and clowns, the greatest show around

Follow me and you will see, there’s nobody here who doesn’t want to be / We’re all one big family, living, wandering free

Here they come equipped with guns, and a kind of blind hatred that you can’t overcome / They keep shouting go back to where you’re from, as if they’d understand what we’ve done

So if it comes down to war, you’d better understand what you’re fighting for / Pretty soon they’ll be knocking at your door, nobody’s neutral anymore

And as the sun sets lower, we’re drawing up our sides

The shot comes ringing out before you even know, I took it for you all so now you’d better go
Regroup and next time when they tell you to stay hid, tell them

You don’t know me like you thought you did
No, you don’t know me like you thought you did
You don’t know me
You don’t know me
You don’t know me
You don’t own me
You don’t know me
You don’t know me like you thought you did
Track Name: Something Meaningful
Rain rain here tonight, brings the end of despair / For every storm shows the darkness, as the sun shows the light

Sometimes life gets you down, then it turns around / Now you’ve found something meaningful

Far far far away, somehow life has split us apart / But I know love will bring us together, by your side is where I want to stay

Sometimes life gets you down, then it turns around / Now you’ve found something meaningful

Child, child without a care, everything to you is how it ought to be / But when the world starts falling down around you, remember to feel the wind and the rain running through your hair

Sometimes life gets you down, then it turns around / Now you’ve found something meaningful
