Every trail tells a story, just as every winding road
Shows us where we’ve been and where it is we’ve got to go
And I don’t mind the miles, I’ve got everything I need
The world’s light on my shoulders and the way’s ahead of me
And maybe I’ve been born again, or maybe just undone
Another living being underneath a burning sun
Stopping here to listen to the warm passing breeze
The words of the rocks and the water, as spoken through the trees
Fools like me, keep on living in a fantasy
Where there’s something good in everything
That keeps us going strong
And I’ve found my way, cause I’m making it up every day
Only memories of moments can remain
When I’m packed up and trailing on
There’s always been a part of me that dreams of something more
Imagines something beautiful upon some distant shore
Flip the sky into the sea and fall into the blue
Out into the universe and into something new
But every now and then I feel I’ve been away too long
Out here on my own and maybe I’ve got it all wrong
Would my older self appreciate the younger me
Is there another road somewhere else where I should be
Don’t doubt it, don’t doubt it, don’t even dare to think about it
I’m where I’m supposed to be
And nothing’s changing me
Cause I’m trying to grow better, but I’m rooted in my past
I’ll work to share the love I find and work to make it last
This trail goes on forever, as long as I may live
And I know this trail and I have so much more to give
Fools like me, keep on living in a fantasy
Where there’s something good in everything
That keeps us going strong
And I’ve found my way, cause I’m making it up every day
Only memories of moments can remain
When I’m packed up and trailing on
