Dancing Queen

by Eric Elliott

/

about

Summer 2020, and Dallas, TX was under stay-at-home orders, surging COVID-19 cases, and a 10pm curfew.

One night with nowhere to go, I was messing around with an open-tuned guitar and the entire song "Dancing Queen" just came together. Suddenly my partner, Sage, and I were singing and smiling and feeling better than we had in weeks. It was beautiful, musical magic.

So I wanted to share it with the world here.
To everyone who stayed home and kept others safe, thank you.
To those of you working essential jobs and risking so much because you had no other choice, thank you.
To the activists and others fighting for racial justice and a better world, thank you.

I hope that this song, my version of one of the most popular, uplifting songs in the universe, brings you the same hope and joy that it brought me this summer.

Stay safe and stay strong. And when you get the chance, be the dancing queen. Sincerely,

Eric
